An odd occurrence has been going on since 1936:
The Washington Redskins can predict the winner of the US Presidential Election.
If they win their last game before Election Day, then the incumbent party stays in power. If they lose, then there is a switch.
Snopes.com examines this from 1936 until 2000. The only mistake its make is in the 2004 season where the last home game for the Redskins was on Oct. 31, 2008 against the Green Bay Packers. The Redskins lost. This would mean that George W. Bush would not win the election. However, this was obviously not true.
What about this time?
Well, the last home game before Election Day was tonight. The Redskins lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
So according to them, Obama should be the next President of the United States.
But how true is it?
